Tema Engineering recently passed a major milestone in the completion of trial assembly of two Water Injection Packages for APSL Systems Limited, an outdoor build including the trial fit of a free-issued 12 meter tall lower section of a deaeration column.
The build started at 6am with the arrival of an ATF 130G-5 Tadano, supplied by Davies Crane Hire. The first package to be placed was a 12 ton filter package, which includes two APSL automatic backwash filter vessels, mechanically designed and manufactured by Tema, closely followed by a 10 ton pump package, fitted with 4 free issue pumps.
The APSL skid packages, which include vessels designed in accordance with ASME VIII and carbon steel pipework in accordance with ASME B31.3, which were manufactured and assembled in our Cardiff works, with painting performed by Tema Protective Coatings.
With the aid of a smaller 40 ton capacity crane, the de-aereation column was lifted from its transport and fitted to its base on the filter package.
The carbon steel and GRE pipework which interconnects the two packages and the column, along with its access ladder and electrical interfaces were then fitted, thus ensuring that when the final offshore assembly is performed, everything fits perfectly first time.
With careful planning, and close teamwork between Tema, APSL and Davies Cranes, the whole build was effectively and safely completed within 12 hours.
